Patenting Biotech Sequences: What's Happened and What To Do Now

Please join the MSBA Intellectual Property Section and Suzannah Sundby, Esq. of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP as she showcases recent case law regarding the patentability of inventions directed to biotech sequences, the hurdles associated with patenting biotech sequences, sequence listing rules and compliance, proposed rule changes, and patent practice pointers. Ms. Sundby will also summarize the case and controversy of the ACLU breast cancer gene lawsuit.
Suzannah Sundby, Esq., is an attorney in the Intellectual Property Section of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, in Washington, DC. Ms. Sundby’s practice focuses on biotechnology patent prosecution. She holds a Masters in Intellectual Property Law,and is a frequent author and speaker on topics pertaining to biotechnology and intellectual property. Ms. Sundby has previously taught advanced biotech patent preparation and prosecution as an adjunct professor at the Franklin Pierce Law Center.
